California's Cole Redl at 15 has Competed in Nationals' twice. (04/23/12)
California native Cole Redl already has many fond memories of playing Ice Hockey but takes his game very seriously. At only 15 years old he stands 6'2, weighs 202 pounds, shoots left and is a winger. Cole was born in Fountain Valley California and lives in Huntington Beach California with his Dad, Mom, 2 sisters and brother.
Cole Started playing Hockey when he was 5. Like many Californians he started with Roller Hockey. At age 8 he made the transition to Ice and never looked back. He first played for the Junior Ice Dogs and then moved to LA Hockey Club where he played for 5 years. One of Cole’s fond memories is competing in the USA Hockey National Championships with LA Hockey Club at the age of 13.
Wearing #10, Cole has played the past 2 years with the California Wave. Cole’s recent performance sent him again to compete in the "2012" USA Hockey National Championships in Green Bay Wisconsin where he averaged a solid, 1 point per game. Cole Redl's stats in Nationals were 1 goal 2 Assists and 4 PIM’s.
Cole obviously had help from some talented teammates allowing them a 5 to 3 victory over Farmington Fire (MI). The next two games they lost by only one point against Toledo Cherokee (OH) and Skylands Kings (NJ). Cole was second in Team scoring just behind #21 Trevor McCollum who scored an impressive 3 goals and 3 assists.
Also getting on the boards were Teammates: Zachary Wolivar (3Pts,) Joseph Kourie (2Pts,) Evan Zytowski (1pt,) Kyle Fujisaki (1Pt,) Parker Dietz (1Pt,) Keenan Haase (1Pt,) Nicholas Tolin (1Pt). Other Teammates making major contributions were: Aaron Murray, Blake Rivera, Cameron Platzman, Christian Gerrits, Jeffrey Beko, Shane Noviello, Toby Costa, Trent Dolabson and Goailes, Jarrett Epp and Jeffrey Hextall.
Their performance at Nationals was very impressive considering the bracket they played in (3A) was made up of Teams from only the most competitive States including Hockey Hotbeds such as New Jersey, and Michigan.
Cole does his best balancing school and hockey playing in the spring hockey league for Huntington Beach High School’s "Surf City Drillers." The Surf City Drillers who play in the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League have played only one game so far but won 5-1. We look forward to updates on Cole’s future success.
